Chimes: Perfect for the Garden

a-364__69784.jpg Basic wind chimes function better than more complex ones so as to not create imbalance in decor styles. This way they will blend in perfectly wherever they are installed. Choose wind chimes that produce a lovely sound and do not get stuck solely on their visual appeal. Consider a simpler aluminum type of wind chime over a more decorative set because these generally generate a more pristine sound quality. When creating your wind chime garden, chimes can be hung at different heights. For example, put your wind chimes on a platform, in a smaller tree line and among flowers. The sound will dance with depth across your garden every time the wind blows through. If you want to enjoy the aesthetic facet of wind chimes, make sure they are in line of vision by positioning them where they will reflect the sunlight at sunrise and at sunset. Aluminum wind chime gardens fit very well with rock settings, water features (such as a waterfall or a birdbath) and surrounding evergreens.

Outdoor Water Features Come in Many Forms and Sizes

Have you ever contemplated turning your garden into a haven of tranquility? You can benefit from a water feature by integrating an outdoor fountain to your garden and creating a place of serenity.

A dramatic impact is made when a spouting fountain sends a shooting stream of water high into the air. If your pond is sufficiently large, it can be incorporated without difficulty. These sorts of fountains are often found in parks or historical stately homes.

Pick a stylish wall fountain to put outside. If you are eager to include a water feature, but are concerned because you have a small yard, do not hesitate to incorporate one of these. Spouting fountains usually make quite an impact whereas wall features are more of a subtle kind of water feature. It is simple process wherein a small jet of water pours outwards in front of a splendidly textured wall and then flows down only to be pumped up again.

Themed fountains are perfect when the look of your garden allows for them. Consider a classic type of statue, such as a cherub supporting a spout, for the fountain if your residence or garden is rustic in style. Consider installing something bolder and distinctive for a contemporary garden. Just let your creativity to run loose.

Water spills down several levels in a tiered fountain.

Cascading fountains is another name used to identify this type of fountain because water streams down multiple levels.

Due to the fact that outdoor fountains can take up a lot of room, put up a wall fountain or a pondless fountain if the space you have is minimal. The reservoirs required for these kinds of fountains are hidden underground which helps you better use your limited space.

Japanese fountains are believed to lend a feeling of tranquility and well-being. The water passes through bamboo sticks in this kind of water feature. The cycle of water flowing into a rustic-styled recipient or a shaped stone repeats itself again and again.

An additional style of fountain is made of glass. Featuring shaped metalwork, trellis-style fountains of this type have a more traditional aspect. Water features of this kind are an excellent alternative for gardens with many sharp edges along with contemporary forms and design. The flowing water creates a striking effect as it moves down the glass sheets. LED lights are also utilized in some fountains to flash color across the water as it flows down on the glass sheet. A rock waterfall fountain (often made of imitation rock) showcases water slowly flowing down its façade.

In a bubbling rock fountain, a big rock is drilled with openings and then filled in the middle with pipes. In this type of fountain, water is pushed upwards at low pressure to cause it to bubble and gurgle at the top. The water comes back gently trickling down the sides of the rock to reach its starting point. This type of fountain is ideally suitable for little gardens. The low pressure used in this sort of fountain prevents water from being spattered about in case of a windy day.

Solar driven fountains have become more fashionable recently because they run on sunlight. The lack of cables, the decreased hassle in managing them, the lower energy bills, and the benefits to our ecosystem are just some of the motives for this increased interest. Outdoor solar-powered fountains are available in myriad varying styles, therefore, you will not have to compromise on which one to buy.

Michelangelo’s Roman Wall Fountains

During the 16th century two renown Florentine sculptors by the names of Michelangelo and Ammannati built the first wall features in Rome. The fountain in the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome, which was completed in 1536 and became part of the façade of the Palazzo Senatorio, was Michelangelo’s first design. A conduit from the Aqua Felice was constructed later and it carried water to the Capitol making a more lavish water effect possible. Michelangelo, however, had anticipated this which led to choice of a larger basin styled on the forms of the late Cinquecento.

The question remains as to whether the celebrated sculptor was the earliest to create wall fountains. Italy’s fountains definitely show the effect his designs had on the styles found there. Today, this structural design is found at the Fountain of the River Gods at the Villa Lante, Bagnaia 1, and the Fountain of the Mugnone arranged among the stairs on the principal axis of the Villa Pratolino.

Rather than creating fountains based on his own genius, Michelangelo was fated to integrating classical elements into Roman-styled structures. Julius III (1550-1555) decided to have a fountain constructed at the top of the Belvedere in the Vatican and commissioned the Florentine master to design a one-of-a-kind wall fountain. A marble figure of Moses striking a rock streaming water was to be built as embellishment for the fountain. However, an ancient sculpture of Cleopatra replaced the statue of Moses because the latter would take too much time build. It was thought easier to use a classical sculpture above the fountain rather than have the eminent artist design a totally new figure.
