Santa Maria in Cosmedin: A Roman Fountain Worthy of Experiencing

Amazing finds of both Christian and pagan roots have been made by archaeologists and restorers in the area of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. The celebrated marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità (Mouth of Truth) can be seen in the portico of the basilica nearby. The location of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain (1719) was not in a well-known neighborhood and was, therefore, not oftentimes visited. The part of town where it was located was depressing and bleak which generally kept people away. It was then that the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri was instructed by Pope Clement XI to build a water fountain in the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in an attempt to make the area more popular. twf038-ei__38714.jpg Work on the church's foundation started on on August 11, 1717. The first stone to be placed in the foundation was consecrated and medallions bearing the images of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were also tossed in.

Choosing Chimes for Your Backyard

Go for wind chimes that are simple in design in order to prevent any incongruity in decor designs. The main goal is for them to fit in easily anywhere they are placed. And remember, the significance of sound is more significant than the look when it comes to wind chimes. Consider a simpler aluminum sort of wind chime over a more ornamental set since these typically produce a more pure sound quality. Suspending your chimes at various heights is important when creating your very own wind chime garden. For example, put your wind chimes on a porch, in a smaller tree line and amongst flowers. The sound will dance with depth across your yard every time the wind blows through. If the aesthetic side to your wind chimes is important to you, be sure to hang them in your line of vision. so you can appreciate the reflection of the rising and setting of the sun. Wind chime gardens designed of aluminum fit well with stone decor, flowing water (including a waterfall or a birdbath) and evergreens.
