Santa Maria in Cosmedin: A Roman Fountain Worth Visiting

p-573_wayfair__06369.jpg Remarkable finds of both Christian and pagan origin have been made by archaeologists and restorers in the area around Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. The famed marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità (Mouth of Truth) can be seen in the portico of the basilica nearby. The location of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain (1719) was not in a well-known area and was, therefore, not often visited. The part of town where it was situated was forlorn and uninviting which was enough to keep people away. In order to refurbish the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Pope Clement XI commissioned an Italian architect by the name of Carlo Bizzaccheri to design a water fountain for the area. August 11, 1717 saw the beginning of the job to put down the foundation of the church. The first stone to be placed in the foundation was blessed and medals bearing the images of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were also thrown in.

The Best Way to the Benefits of Feng Shui to Your Yard

Add feng shui design to the layout of your yard so it can carry energy into your residence.

As far as the size of your yard goes, it is not particularly important when introducing feng shui design to it. Of course, a huge area is great if you have it, but rest assured that feng shui works just as well in smaller areas as well.

The same tools you employ to include feng shui design into your living space can be used in the garden. Since the energy map, or bagua, of your garden is an extension of your house’s bagua, you will need to start by understanding the bagua of the house.

Before getting going, make sure you grasp the five elements of feng shui so that you can maximize their energy.

The Earth element, for example, should be located in the northeast section of your garden which connects to the personal growth and self-cultivation energy in feng shui design. A Zen garden with some pretty natural rocks is perfect for that spot, as the rocks represent the Earth element.

Consider integrating a water feature into these feng shui areas: East (health & family), North (career & path in life), or Southeast (money and abundance).

Windchimes: Perfect for the Backyard

Simple wind chimes work better than more complex ones so as to not create imbalance in decor styles. This way they will blend in perfectly wherever they are installed. Choose wind chimes that make a beautiful sound and do not get stuck solely on their look. As a matter of fact, the much ornamental kinds of wind chimes are not fabricated so as to generate the same pristine audio quality as those crafted of aluminum. When creating your wind chime garden, chimes can be installed at different heights. For example, place a set of wind chimes up on a deck, one in a smaller tree line and another among your flowers. The blowing breeze will produce a sound that will emanate across your whole garden. If you want to enjoy the aesthetic facet of wind chimes, make sure they are in line of vision by positioning them where they will reflect the sunlight at sunrise and at sunset. Stone decoration, running water (including waterfalls or a birdbaths) and evergreens go well with aluminum wind chime gardens.
