How Feng Shui Turn Your Yard into Sanctuary

Enjoy the health benefits of feng shui by introducing its design elements into your yard.

Size is not the most important concern when incorporating feng shui design to your garden. A sizeable area is great for those privileged enough to have it, but a more compact area can still be useful in feng shui design. brk_343_2_1__69029.jpg

The main feng shui tools can be utilized for your home decor as well as your garden design. The first part is to understand the bagua, or energy map, of your home, as your garden’s bagua will be an extension of that.

In order to make the most of feng shui, it is important to start by learning how to bolster each of its five elements.

An example of this is that Earth is the feng shui element you should include in the northeast part of your garden because that section of your garden connects to the energy of personal growth and self-cultivation. A Zen garden with some lovely natural rocks is ideal for that spot, as the rocks represent the Earth element.

A water element is a suitable add-on to the following feng shui areas: Southeast (money & abundance), East (health & family), and North (career & path in life).

The World’s Biggest Water Elements

The Spectacular Santa Maria in Cosmedin Water Fountain in Rome

Archaeologists and restorers alike have stumbled upon a treasure trove of pagan and Christian artifacts on the grounds of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. The nearby basilica is largely famous for the marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità, (Mouth of Truth) located in its entryway. The location of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain (1719) was not in a well-known neighborhood and was, therefore, not often visited. For the most part, people stayed away from the area because it was a bleak and deserted part of the city. As part of a project to modernize the piazza outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri was instructed by Pope Clement XI to design a fountain. August 11, 1717 marked the date when work on the church’s infrastructure commenced. Medallions bearing the imagery of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were thrown in the foundation following the blessing of the first stone.
