Santa Maria in Cosmedin: A Roman Water Fountain Worth Seeing

Amazing discoveries of both Christian and pagan origin have been made by archaeologists and restorers in the area around Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. The Bocca della Verità (Mouth of Truth} is a recognized marble sculpture located in the portico of the nearby basilica. Built in 1719, the Santa Maria in Cosmedin water fountain was relatively unknown and located far from sight making it hard to visit. 6055_3602__67584.jpg The part of town where it was situated was forlorn and bleak which generally kept people away. In order to modernize the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Pope Clement XI commissioned an Italian architect by the name of Carlo Bizzaccheri to create a water fountain for the area. The task of laying down the church’s foundation started on August 17, 1717. Medallions bearing the imagery of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were thrown in the foundation following the blessing of the first rock.

Enrich Your Garden with the Aid of Feng Shui

Introduce feng shui design to the layout of your yard so it can carry energy into your household.

As far as the size of your garden goes, it is not particularly important when introducing feng shui design to it. A huge space is great for those lucky enough to have it, but a smaller area can still be useful in feng shui design.

The main feng shui tools can be used for your interior decor as well as your garden design. In order to understand the energy map, or bagua, of your garden, you will first need to know your home’s bagua.

It is also crucial to know the five elements in the theory of feng shui and how best to use each one to optimize its energy.

Feng shui design calls for the Earth element, for example, to be incorporated into the northeastern corner of your garden, as that area connects to self-cultivation and personal improvement energy. Since rocks epitomize the Earth element in feng shui, you might think about putting some into a serene Zen garden in the northeast corner of your yard.

Southeast (money and abundance), East (health & family), and North (career & path in life) are feng shui areas perfect for a water element.
