The Virtuosity of Michelangelo’s Roman Wall Fountains

During the 16th century two renown Florentine artists by the names of Michelangelo and Ammannati designed the first wall features in Rome. b-033__22864.jpg In 1536 Michelangelo’s earliest fountain in the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome, part of the façade of the Palazzo Senatorio, was revealed. The building of a conduit from the Aqua Felice to the Capitol, which allowed for a more beautiful water display, was included years later. Styled on the late Cinquecento, Michelangelo built a larger basin, anticipating the construction of the conduit.

Was the well-known maestro the mastermind of the wall fountain? His designs undoubtedly inspired the type of fountain which predominates throughout Italy. The Fountain of the River Gods at the Villa Lante, Bagnaia 1, and the Fountain of the Mugnone set between flights of stairs on the main axis of the Villa Pratolino are further illustrations of this type of structure.

Michelangelo’s great talent was put aside because he was forced to design fountains combining classical elements and a Roman style. The Florentine maestro was commissioned by Julius III (1550-1555) to design a unique fountain to be placed at the top of the passageway of the Belvedere in the Vatican. The famed artist was asked to design a marble figure of Moses striking a stone from which water streamed forth. Unfortunately for the sculptor, this concept was denied because it would take a lot of time to build and a classic statue of Cleopatra was used instead. It was thought easier to use a traditional piece of art above the fountain rather than have the eminent artist design a totally new figure.

Choosing Wind Bells and Windchimes for Your Garden

Select wind chimes that are basic in design in order to prevent any disparity in decor styles. The main goal is for them to fit in effortlessly anywhere they are placed.

When choosing wind chimes, remember that their sound is vastly more important than their appearance. In fact, many of the more decorative types of wind chimes are not made in such a way that allows for the same pristine sound quality as those of a simple aluminum design. When creating your wind chime garden, think about hanging them at various heights. One situation is to locate your wind chimes on a terrace, an additional set in a small tree line and yet another around your flowers. The sound will dance with depth across your garden every time a breeze blows through. Hanging wind chimes in your eyeline so you can enjoy the sunrise and sundown will allow you to take pleasure in their aesthetic aspects. Aluminum wind chime gardens fit perfectly with stone configurations, water features (such as a waterfall or a birdbath) and surrounding evergreens.

Spruce up Your Garden with the Aid of Feng Shui

When applied to your yard, feng shui design will bring its healthy energy into your home as well.

As far as the size of your yard goes, it is not especially important when incorporating feng shui design to it. It is great to have a huge space to work with, but do not worry if the area is small since you can always incorporate feng shui design.

Whether you are adding feng shui design to your home or garden, the methods are the same. Your yard's bagua, or energy map, is an extension of your home’s bagua, so it is essential to determine your home’s first.

It is also crucial to know the five elements in the theory of feng shui and how best to use each one to make the most of its energy.

An example of this is that Earth is the feng shui element you should have in the northeast part of your garden because that section of your garden connects to the energy of personal growth and self-cultivation. This could be the optimal place to put a meditative Zen garden with some beautiful stones because these represent the Earth element in feng shui.

A water element is a perfect add-on to the following feng shui areas: Southeast (money & abundance), East (health & family), and North (career & path in life).
