Santa Maria in Cosmedin: A Roman Fountain Worthy of Viewing

Archaeologists and restorers alike have stumbled upon a treasure trove of pagan and Christian artifacts on the site of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. Found in the portico of the nearby basilica one can find the celebrated marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità (Mouth of Truth). b-033__22864.jpg The location of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain (1719) was not in a well-known area and was, therefore, not oftentimes visited. Since the nearby area was depressing and mostly abandoned, people were not particularly interested in visiting it. As part of a project to revitalize the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri was commissioned by Pope Clement XI to design a fountain. August 11, 1717 marked the date when work on the church’s foundation commenced. After blessing of the first stone, medals bearing the images of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were tossed into the foundation.

Integrate the Vitality of Feng Shui into Your Garden

When applied to your yard, feng shui design will introduce its beneficial energy into your home as well.

As far as the size of your yard goes, it is not particularly important when introducing feng shui design to it. If you have a lavish, charming one, that is great, but even a smaller area works well with feng shui design.

The same tools you employ to introduce feng shui design into your house can be used in the garden. In order to know the energy map, or bagua, of your garden, you will first need to know your home’s bagua.

Before getting underway, make sure you understand the five elements of feng shui so that you can maximize their energy.

The Earth element, for example, should be positioned in the northeast part of your garden which connects to the personal growth and self-cultivation energy in feng shui design. A Zen garden with some pretty natural rocks is ideal for that spot, as the rocks represent the Earth element.

A water feature is a great add-on to the following feng shui areas: Southeast (money & abundance), East (health & family), and North (career & path in life).
